What ISO 9001 means for the people we serve

In 2025 the International Istiqama Muslim Charitable Association received ISO 9001:2015 certification for its charity project management. It is the kind of news that can sound like paperwork. It is not.
A discipline, not a plaque
ISO 9001 is a quality-management standard. To earn it, an organisation must document how it works, measure whether it delivers, find its own weaknesses, and fix them — again and again. We ran a comprehensive workshop across every sector to put that discipline in place, long before the auditors arrived.
Why it matters to a donor
When you give, you are trusting a stranger with your charity and your intention. Certification is one way we honour that trust with evidence rather than words: a system that tracks a project from a donation to a delivered well, a school, a scholarship — and can show you the path in between.
Excellence is not a luxury in charitable work. When resources are given in trust, doing things well is part of the amanah.
