The Istiqama Educational City Project in Dar es Salaam
A meeting was held at the headquarters of the Istiqama Global Islamic Charity Association in Muscat with members of the board of trustees of the Tanzanian Istiqama Association, to discuss the overall concept of the Istiqama Educational City planned for the city of Dar es Salaam. This came as part of the strategic partnership between the two associations to expand educational and development projects with a sustainable impact in Dar es Salaam.
The meeting reviewed the components of the proposed project, which aims to establish an integrated educational city comprising:
an international school for the primary and secondary stages,
a student boarding facility built to modern educational and service standards,
a university college dedicated to higher education and applied specializations,
a hospital serving the educational city and the surrounding community,
a multipurpose hall for academic, cultural, and community activities,
and a mosque embodying the project's value-based and spiritual dimension.
The attendees also discussed the regulatory aspects related to the land allocated for the project, options for phased development, implementation mechanisms, and potential partnerships, while emphasizing the importance of complying with the laws and regulations in force in Tanzania and ensuring the financial and administrative sustainability of all the project's facilities.
From the Tanzanian side, the meeting was attended by Sheikh Badr al-Jabri, chairman of the board of trustees of the Tanzanian Istiqama Association, and Sheikh Saleh al-Barashdi, a member of the board of trustees.
The meeting also discussed the progress of the educational process at the Islamic Institute in Dar es Salaam, noting that the institute began its educational activity on 13 Rajab 1447 AH, corresponding to 3 January 2026. The institute's academic and organizational aspects were reviewed, and its most notable challenges and development needs during the founding stage were examined.
At the close of the meeting, those present affirmed their full support for the association's educational projects in Tanzania, recommending that the technical studies and detailed feasibility studies for the Istiqama Educational City project be completed, paving the way for their approval and for the necessary executive decisions in the next stage.
